Climate and health
In this region predominates a dry summery Mediterranean climate with more than 320 sunny days a year, warm to hot eight-months-long summers, somewhat cooler but comparatively mild winters with hardly any rain. The continuous breeze refreshes pleasantly, especially in summer.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) described the climate at the southern Costa Blanca as one of the healthiest climates in the whole of Europe. It is especially suitable for rheumatic conditions and painful joints as well as cardiac and circulatory illnesses and asthma. Swimming in the lagoons or the Mar Menor has also been greatly successful for skin infections like shingles and psoriasis.
Medical care is first class – there are good clinics and specialists for every medical field and the emergency service is well organised. Many times there are also private English-speaking doctors.
